the year of the sex olympics

The Year of the Sex Olympics marks an iconic point in Nigel Kneale's career as a television dramatist, concluding a brief spell when he was working almost exclusively in the British film industry.

The Year of the Sex Olympics posits a future where the populace is kept in check with a form of 'reality television'. As such, it has an eerie continued thematic relevance in modern society as is the perfect time to reexamine on the big screen!

This drama also marks one of many collaborations between Kneale as scriptwriter and Michael Elliott as director. Both Kneale and Elliott have a strong connection to our home of the North West. Kneale was born in Barrow-in-Furness, and Elliott spent much of the latter part of his life living and working in Manchester, as one of the founders of the Royal Exchange Theatre.

Do not miss the chance to catch this important piece of Television on the big screen as part of Pilot Light TV Festival: Season 2.

This screening will be introduced by Andy Murray, author of Nigel Kneale’s first full biography ‘Into The Unknown: The Fantastic Life of Nigel Kneale’.
