I told my Mum I was going on an R.E. Trip

Sat 5 May 13:30 - Cinema 3, HOME.

This warm and honest drama explores young women’s experiences of abortion. Told through the voices of four actors, the film interweaves real interview material, song and spoken word to portray true stories from a range of different characters. Filmed on the 50th anniversary of the legalisation of abortion in Britain, Writer Julia Samuels explores the way in which society treats this subject and how it impacts women today. And importantly asks what would happen if we started to talk openly about it?

The show is co-produced by theatre companies 20 Stories High and Contact. It was originally performed on stage at Contact in Manchester and later adapted for TV, airing to critical acclaim on BBC2 in January 2018, starring Derry Girls' Jamie-Lee O'Donnell and featuring TV debuts from Aizah Khan, Dorcas Sebuyange and Emma Burns.

We are pleased to welcome Julia Samuels (Writer/Producer), Roxanne Moores (Producer) and Lindy Heymann (Director) for a post screening Q&A, chaired by Dr Kirsty Fairclough (Assistant Dean: Research & Innovation, University of Salford).
