Fri 4 May, 16:00 - Theatre 2, HOME

The UK has an incredibly diverse population full of stories to be told, and creativity to nourish, but what is being done to welcome new voices into the TV and film production industries?
This discussion, hosted by Sundae Communications with Creative England, looks at the steps being taken to improve on screen representation, in particular shortFLIX, a short film initiative led by Creative England in partnership with National Youth Theatre and Sky Arts.
Aimed at aspiring filmmakers from diverse backgrounds aged 18-25 and not currently in full-time education, employment or training, it sought out new and exciting filmmaking voices from across the UK and has produced five short films due to be showcased on Sky Arts this May.
The panel, including shortFLIX filmmakers alongside industry specialists will discuss the impact of the programme, the reality of being part of it, and what more can be done to nurture under-represented talent in TV and film.
This panel features:
Fiona McGarva (Managing Director Sundae Communications)
Jude Lister (Project Manager, Creative England)
Morwenna Gordon (Commissioning Editor, Sky)
Loran Dunn (Producer, Delaval Film)
Luna Carmoon (Writer/Director, Nosebleed)
Abena Taylor-Smith (Writer/Director, Ladies Day)
